留学ビザ（在留資格「留学」）の更新において、入管が重視する主な審査基準は次の5つです。
When renewing a Student Visa (Status of Residence: “Student”), Immigration mainly checks the following five points.
（1）出席率 Attendance at School
大学では出席率を厳しく管理していない場合もありますが、専門学校や日本語学校では特に重視されます。
一般的には 80％以上 が目安とされ、これを下回ると「学習意思が不十分」と判断されるおそれがあります。
・出席率80％未満 … 理由書の提出が必要
・出席率70％未満 … 更新はかなり厳しい
・出席率60％未満 … 更新はほぼ認められない
留学は「学習するための在留資格」であることを忘れてはいけません。
At universities, attendance is not always checked strictly, but at vocational schools and Japanese language schools it is very important.
In general, you should attend more than 80% of your classes. If not, Immigration may think you do not have enough will to study.
・Less than 80% → You must submit a letter of explanation.
・Less than 70% → Renewal will be very difficult.
・Less than 60% → Renewal will almost never be approved.
Remember: the Student Visa is a status of residence for studying.
（2）成績・単位取得状況 Grades and Credits
成績不良により留年してしまうと、更新は厳しくなります。ただし、出席率が高ければ考慮される可能性もあります。更新の際には、以下のような補足資料が効果的です。
・改善計画を示す書類
・学校側の協力（指導教員の推薦書や説明文）
If you fail your classes and have to repeat a year, renewal will be very difficult.
However, if your attendance rate is high, Immigration may still consider your case.
When applying for renewal, the following supporting documents can be helpful:
・A written plan showing how you will improve your studies
・A recommendation letter or explanation from your teacher or school
（3）資格外活動（アルバイト）の状況 Part-Time Work (Arubaito)
資格外活動許可を受けている場合、就労は 週28時間以内 が原則です。
＜注意すべき点＞
・学校の長期休暇中でも 40時間以内 の制限あり（無制限ではありません）
・複数のアルバイト掛け持ちでの時間超過に注意
・アルバイト収入は 月10万円程度。それ以上だと不法就労を疑われる可能性あり
また、給与を手渡しでもらって申告しないのは 所得税法違反（脱税） になりますし、申請時に申告しないと 虚偽申請 となります。「先輩が大丈夫だったから自分も大丈夫」という考えは危険です。
If you have permission for activities outside your status (part-time work), you can usually work up to 28 hours per week.
Points to be careful about:
・Even during long school vacations, the limit is 40 hours per week (it is not unlimited).
・Be careful not to exceed the working hours if you have multiple part-time jobs.
・Immigration expects part-time income to be around 100,000 yen per month. Earning more may be seen as illegal work.
Also, receiving cash wages without reporting it is tax evasion under Japanese law, and failing to declare your income on your application is a false statement.
Thinking “It was okay for my senior, so it will be okay for me” is very risky.
（4）生活状況・経費支弁能力 Money and Living Situation
学業を続けるために経済的に安定しているかも、更新審査で重視されます。
＜必要となる資料の例＞
・学費の支払状況
・銀行通帳の残高や送金記録
・経費支弁者（親など）の収入証明
入管は「無理なく学業を継続できるか」を総合的に判断します。
Immigration also checks whether you are financially stable enough to continue your studies.
Examples of documents you may need:
・Proof of tuition payment
・Bank account balance and remittance records
・Income proof of your financial supporter (e.g., your parents)
Immigration makes a comprehensive judgment on whether you can continue your studies without financial problems.
（5）提出書類の整合性と信頼性 Documents
提出書類の内容が一貫していることも重要です。
＜主な書類＞
・学校 … 在学証明書、成績証明書、出席証明書
・本人 … 課税証明書、納税証明書、通帳コピー
（1）～（4）の基準を満たさない場合には、理由書や反省文の提出を求められることがあります。

・From yourself: Tax certificate, proof of payment of taxes, bank account copies
If you do not meet the criteria in (1)–(4), Immigration may ask you to submit a letter of explanation or a reflection statement.

理由書や反省文を作成する際、マニュアルやAIを活用するのは構いませんが、コピー＆ペーストは絶対に避けましょう。入管職員も人間です。本心からの言葉で、学習を続けたい思いを伝えることが大切です。
